Coming up in this Blog is my Top Eight Spiced Rum Highballs. What I've done very, very quickly I've taken each of my favourite, non-Coca Cola mixes, and I've found out my favourite Rum to mix with each of them. So, this is my top eight simple serve Highballs, not including Coke.
Right then, this is my final review of 2019. These are the Spiced Rums that I've featured so far this year. 33 of them I've reviewed on this channel. The questions piling into me now, all the time, are what's my favourite Spiced Rum mixed with this, what's my favourite Rum for that, what's my neat sipping Rum. So, that's what these three videos have been all about. What I've done is I've found my favourite out and out Spiced Rum to mix with each one of these.
no8 - Sekforde Light & Spiced Rum Mixer
Let's start off with the first mixer Sekforde's Light and Spiced Rum Spirit Mixer hints of Cacao, Mint, Rose, and Lime in there. So, what is my favourite Spiced Rum to mix with this out of the 33 that I've tried so far? Well, here it is. This is Black Tears, a Cuban Spiced Rum. Distilled in Cuba, Spiced in Cuba. Hints of Chocolate...Cacao, Coffee, a bit of Pepper in there, I just think that works very, very well together. You will be looking at roughly 35 pounds a bottle. This is my favourite combo for Sekforde.

no7 - Ting Grapefruit Soda
The seventh mixer that I'm going to show you, this is Ting. This is a Grapefruit Soda think Lilt without the Pineapple. The Spiced Rum that I thought works the best with Ting, is this one. Barti Spiced. This is a lovely Spiced Rum from Wales, Pembrokeshire Coast. I could not find a better Spiced Rum to mix with Ting. I just thought that combination worked very, very well. You can pick up Barti on Master of Malt, just under 30 pounds. About 28 pounds a bottle for consumer price. Trade price is a little bit cheaper than that. Links in the show notes.

no6 - Fentimans Tropical Soda
The sixth place mixer that I'm going to show you, this is Fentimans Tropical Soda. A lot of supermarkets now are taking this on, and Fentimans do the 500ml screw top bottles, much like Fever Tree do now, as well. So you can get that in Morrison's, Ocado, all those sort of places. Go and check it out. If you haven't got that sweet tooth you will absolutely love that. Tropical Soda, hints of Pineapple, Cardamon, bits of Juniper in there as well, Pear Extract. So, what is my favourite Spiced Rum to go with that out of the 33 that I've tasted? Well, we're going back to, I've just featured this, Black Tears. There's just something about, because that's not a sweet Rum, or a Spiced Rum at all. There's just something how it works really, really well together. The whole sort of Pineapple thing bounces off the coffee. Now Pineapple and Coffee is kind of a well known tiki combination that works really, really well. You got a Cacao in there as well. I just think that really, really works. I could not find a better Spiced Rum to mix with Fentimans Tropical Soda.

no5 - Ginger Beer; Franklin & Sons
This is Ginger Beer. This is my favourite Ginger Beer, Franklins and Sons. So, fifth place, ginger beer for me, it used to be my absolute go-to. Ginger Beer, Spiced Rum, Ginger Beer, absolutely it's all I used to drink, really. However, certain mixes that have come on now that, for me, are just ahead of this. So, what are we going with, what's my favourite? I am going Rumbullion. That is my favourite Spiced Rum to mix with that Ginger Beer. Out and out, better for me than any other Spiced Rum there. Really really liked it. It's also featured in my top three sipping Spiced Rums, really, really like that, 42.6% APV. Big notes of Vanilla, slight bits of Orange, Clove. Combination just works exceptionally well. That's Rumbullion online, roughly about 35 pounds, Master of Malt. Some supermarkets have got this, I think Tescos might actually do this in really big bottles, Ocado and places like that. So, that is my Spiced Rum and ginger beer serve.

no4 - Fever Tree Spiced Orange Ginger Ale
Fourth place, non-Coke mixer I'm going Fever-Trees Spiced Orange Ginger Ale. What am I recommending with this, what is my favourite Spiced Rum out of 33 I've done so far to mix with that? Well, I'm going the whole orange on orange. This is Diablesse. It's their Clementine Spiced Rum. Again, one of the first ones that I featured. The combination of those two just works so, so well together. While that does work with a hell of a lot of Spiced Rums, a big favourite, I'm always featuring that. I come back to this one, because that is my favourite Spiced Rum to mix with that. Just very, very quickly recapping. Manchester based company, going on a base Rum, 40% ABV. Spiced up traditionally, and then Spiced up. This ones got, they have got a normal one as well. This one is Spiced up with clementine. no3 - Schweppes Muscovado Dark Spirit Mixer
My third place mixer, and I'm going with this. And as I've mentioned now in a few videos, I have heard whispers that Schweppes are de-listing this or half already de-listing this. It's still sitting in supermarkets, not sure how true that is. Yes, it's not to everyone's taste. But, this is Schweppes Muscovado Dark Spirit Mixer. My favourite Spiced Rum with this, Pineapple Grenade. It is just such a massive, amazing combination. Pineapple grenade is obviously a very, very strong Spiced Rum, 65% ABV, 65%. So, it's Spiced Rum, big Pineapple notes, but the Pineapple with the muscovado just kind of gives you that caramelised, that Pineapple, grilled Pineapple taste, and I just absolutely love it. That is my third place spirit mixer combo.

no2 - Old Jamaica Pineapple Soda
My second place is Pineapple soda. This drink combo was just amazing. Not necessarily a winter drink but, so much fun. It got that little bit of extra sweetness compared to that. I just really, really love that. Clear out and out favourite for this one. Not necessarily a Spiced Rum, but for the time being I have clubbed together flavoured Rums in this as well. So, this is still one of the ones I featured. Until really, it catch, really kicks off, and then we have a separate flavoured Rum category to Spiced Rums to normal Rums, blah blah blah. I'm clumping them all together. My favourite combo, there we go. RumTing. Mango, passionfruit, elderflower. Normal, the same sort of recipes that gin is done so well. It's just a fun, guilt-free drink. So, this is my second place, out of all the mixes, my second place combo. Now I've got a lot of love for Chris and his brands. Fun, fruity, they're not trying to be pretentious, they're not trying to go after people that are just going to whinge, and moan. They just want to create fun drinks. It is slightly on the expensive side, 36 pounds a bottle for you guys. Trade is a bit cheaper. However, it is 42.6, where are we I've forgotten. 42.5% ABV. So, it's a lot stronger than some of your 37.5%. Yes, that does add a bit to the cost as well. But, you know what, fun, fruity drink you can't go wrong.

no1 - Cawston Press Apple and Ginger Juice
Right, that leaves my favourite out and out, Highball long mixed drinks, Spiced Rum. What is it? If you remember back to the start of the video this has just jumped out at me. It might be because it's cold. I might need to revisit this in the summer. Cawston Press. Proper pressed apple juice, ginger extract, so I did say ginger beer in the last video, like I did with this, but ginger extract proper. It's got the whole fun stuff. I do love apple and ginger going together. I used to do a hell of a lot of that with pressed apple juice. But, for me, as this is so widely available now in most supermarkets and on Ocado. It's just for me come as an out and out Spiced Rum mixer. So, what is my favourite Spiced Rum to go with this? Well, you loyal fans, you are going to know exactly what's coming here because it was literally, three videos ago that I did this. I fell in love. This is Dark Matter. Scottish distillery, Scottish Spiced Rum. Distilled and Spiced up there in Scotland. For me stick that in a Highball, loads of ice. As I said at the time, you don't even need bitters, you don't even need a wedge of lime, but you could. Even though it'd be served cold, warming Spiced Rums however, this time of year, I've cheekily had it all the way through filming all these. I flippin' love this. Warm that up. I haven't, but you can stick a cinnamon stick in there as well. And who needs mulled wine this time of year because those two, oh boy. This is just absolutely amazing. Proper feisty, Spiced Rum. Not sweet at all. Definitely not for the faint of heart. It's not a catch all Spiced Rum. Definitely splits a penny. Hot or cold this is my favourite, out and out Spiced Rum Highball of the moment. So, well done Dark Matter.
